History
Founded in 1881 by German immigrant families settling the Dakota territory, Trinity sought to ensure that the saving gospel of Jesus Christ would be purely proclaimed in their new homes on the frontier. They met in their houses and a small church building erected in 1882, until the current sanctuary was built and dedicated in 1906.
Spreading the gospel to others who came to this area, Trinity became the mother church to a number of the Lutheran congregations in the Sioux Falls area.
Almost 150 years later, we are still a thriving congregation, gathered around the life-giving Word and sacraments, by which Jesus preserves and enlarges His Church. While much has changed in both the congregation and the community since 1881, one thing has remained the same: the forgiveness, life, and salvation won by our Lord Jesus Christ, delivered to us abundantly every week here at Trinity.
Groups
Trinity offers a number of different ways for its members to get involved with each other in the congregation outside of Sunday morning. Our Lutheran Women's Missionary League meets for Bible study at 1:00pm on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, as well as at 6:00pm on the second Sunday of the month. Our Men's Club meets on the second Sunday of the month at 6:00pm for Bible study and planning service projects and events. The Men's Club also takes on a number of other congregations in dartball! The winter months also see a bowling league, as a further opportunity to enjoy spending time together as a family in Christ.
